Both within and beyond their walls, for today and tomorrow, Washington area theatres create thousands of jobs for our community.
Thousands of theatre professionals — actors, designers, technicians, administrators, production personnel, maintenance, ushers, and support staff — make the Washington area their home and actively participate in the area’s economic cycle. So do the waiters in adjacent restaurants, attendants in nearby parking garages, distributors who supply theatre concession stands, and printers who produce playbills. And the social capital generated by these dedicated individuals contributes substantially to the quality of life throughout our area.
At theatreWashington, we strive to enrich and enhance today’s theatre professionals AND our community’s workforce of tomorrow. While we provide professional development opportunities, support services, and access to lifelong learning resources, we also have established an environment to foster ambition and direction, thus motivating the new generation of a creative workforce.
And when minds are fed, the body will be fed forever.
